Consolidate Business Foundation, Focus on Agricultural Product Line, and Escort China-Canada Trade Development

For more than two years, CCIC Canada has been committed to consolidating various business foundations and capabilities through close liaison with industry, professional organization sand provide honest and business services to our customers and partners. Although the Pandemic situation of COVID-19 from the end of last year brought a certain impact on our operation, CCIC Canada seized this rare business transitional period and conducted various technical preparation and internal quality management system improvement. In February 2020, CCIC Canada officially submitted application to Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Ltd (FOSFA) for the membership of the inspection superintendent, which will lay foundation for the long-term and sustainable development of the agricultural product inspection services. After review by the Technical Committee of the FOSFA and the vote of its council, FOSFA officially granted CCIC Canada registered superintendent membership of FOSFA on April 1, 2020.

Marking this as a milestone, CCIC Canada has become one of the few independent third-party inspection body which has been granted qualification and multiple professional memberships including Canadian Grain Association (CGC), International Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Ltd (FOSFA). In future, CCIC Canada will uphold the values of “Honesty, Upright, Professional, and Innovation”,follow GAFTA and FOSFA codes of conduct, and provide professional services to global manufacturers, processors, and international traders in accordance with the sampling and inspection requirements set by industry associations. It will provide technical guarantee for improving the quality of agricultural products and escort the promotion of global agricultural products trade.

In the process of preparing for FOSFA membership, CCIC Singapore offered strong support and guidance, presenting the teamwork spirit of « One family in CCIC, One play in the world ». We look forward to working with brother companies in the future to continuously increase the international market share of CCIC agricultural product business line.
Background Information:

The Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Ltd (FOSFA) was established in 1971 by 1169 members from 88 countries. It is an important industry organization for international standard contract format making, inspection and test body qualification review and trade arbitration. The members include manufacturers, processors, traders, inspection companies, test labs, storage and transportation companies, as well as lawyers and insurance firms.
FOSFA has issued a large number of standardized contracts for multimodal transport and trading models for global soybean oil, canola oil, sunflower seed oil and other vegetable oils and marine oil trades. They also specified the inspection and testing methods involved in the trade that corresponding inspection and testing agencies should meet. They review and authorize the qualifications of the inspection and testing institutions to ensure that the quality of the products meet the contract requirements and provide a guarantee mechanism. Eighty-five percent of the global oil and fat trade is conducted under FOSFA contracts.
